We are suspending operations to observe a period of mourning at the house, in appreciation of his good spirit.

Nestled in the historical district of a sleepy north Georgia town, The Bowers House Writers Retreat and Literary Center affords visiting writers a rare commodity — the tranquility and space to work and create.

The Bowers House is reopening with precautions in 2022 and accepting applications for creative residencies and reservations for this 100 year old stately home with crappy internet and good vibes. A place to write and paint and sing. To find and renew creativity while surrounded by spiral-vined gardens, creaky wraparound porches and towering magnolias. To walk among the whispers of friendly ghosts and pastoral splendor. Quiet nights and productive, inspiring days, imaginative minds awakening, sweet music originating, the savory aroma of a country meal, the satisfaction of a finished page or canvas.

The Bowers House Creative Retreat offers customized workspace for artists and academic residency programs, overnight seminars and guest/traveler lodging in an historic 100-year-old railway town hotel that time forgot

If you are interested in renting the house for personal use or an event or if you are an event organizer or residency manager you can make a reservation by calling Charlie Read at 954-888-8948. Once approved you will also have access to a Creative Ambassador in your field to assist you in planning and customizing your retreat or event at The Bowers House.

The Bowers House conducts and sponsors several in-house music, film and creative and fine arts events and retreats each year, as well as promoting the work of its Ambassadors. Members are expected provide an end result or in-progress learning experience for BOWERS HOUR, displaying for programming their creative accomplishments made during their stay. This might include or involve a video interview, a public or private concert, reading, production, performance, usually video recorded on site. Materials are provided to the artist for their own promotional use as well.
